An Elephant That Speaks Korean

Speaking words in Korean hat can be readily understood by those who know the language is what this Asian elephant named Koshik does as he imitates human speech. He vocalizes with his trunk in his mouth. Only five words make up his vocabulary which are annyong meaning hello, anja meaning sitdown, aniya that means no, nuo which means lie down and choah which stands for good. Angela Stoeger from the University of Vienna states, "Human speech basically has two important aspects pitch and timbre. For the past few years Koshik lived in a zoo where humans were his only social contacts.
